This class includes Georgian polyphonic folk and urban songs. Each lesson covers one or two new songs, so there’s no need for continuity - you can join from time to time, depending on your availability
This class will be focused on developing musical ear and intuition through working with old recordings, improvisational exercises, collective composition and group experiments.
This class not only cover single chants, but also prepare future church chanters by guiding them through the essential repertoire of the Georgian Orthodox church’s liturgical services.
For the above two, repertoire will focus primarily on Georgian urban folk songs (qalaquri), though the chords, techniques and aural skills learned can be applied more broadly.
